If you were in Germany during the Great Depression. Had no job or food, had just had your native land humiliated and beaten down worldwide. (In the Treaty of Versailles’ Article 231) and told you couldn’t build up your Army, Navy or Air force. Wouldn’t you have wanted to gain it back and show everyone else that you weren’t completely stopped? Then if a leader (Hitler) came and promised you that you would regain it and be the rulers of the world, wouldn’t that make you want to go to war (In World War 2)?
This is what happened to Germany in World War 2. In Germany they had been told that they were the ones that caused WW1, the only ones that had to give money for reparations, and had gotten a large portion of their land and rights taken away. Then after that they were going through a time of inflation when people had almost nothing. But then a guy named Hitler came around promising world dominance, money in you pocket, and a chance to lift you back up on your feet. So through this Germany made an Alliance with the Soviets to give out land and to invade Poland, but France and Great Britain had made an agreement to help Poland if the were invaded. Then on August 13, 1939 that’s what Germany and the Soviet Union did, and that was what started world war one when France and Britain declared war on Germany, but they were too slow to act and never got there on time to help out Poland, so then the Axis Powers then had control of Poland.
August 1942 to February 1943 the Battle of Stalingrad when the Germans broke their treaty with the Soviet Union, and that turned out to be one of bloodiest battles in human history. That the Soviets were down almost to their lowest point until Operation Mars and Operation Uranus that lead the Soviet victory and the downfall of the Germans in WW2.
Then there was D-Day on June 6, 1944 when the Allies were trying to get into the German occupied France on the beaches of Normandy. Were there was also one of the more bloody battles of WW2. Then once the Allies eventually got in there was one final last push from the Germans. That was the Battle of the Bulge on December 16, 1944 when the Germans were trying to get through the Allies with one final last push that eventually didn’t work. It didn’t go easily though there were 100,000 German casualties, 81,000 American casualties, along with 800 tanks lost, and 1,000 German planes. That started with three German armies with 500,000 men, three American armies with 600,000 men, along with 55,000 British Troops. In the end it was one of the worst battles during the entire war in terms of losses.
In conclusion, the Germans started with nothing and no hope until a “great” leader had come around and promised them salvation and worldwide praise. But in then it ended up as a dead leader and nothing once again but the blame on them for starting two world wars with nothing accomplished in the end but a lot of dead soldiers.
